The Book of Books

"Into the midst of this world's activities, came Jesus. How did He treat this Book, the Bible? As none other; it was the Book of books to Him. Scripture was His food and His weapon always. It was not the New Testament yet, for this was not written then. It was the very part that high and low most try to get rid of. Men say it is the writing, first of one man, and then of another, sometimes put together by a third one or more. What folly! How then has it such astonishing unity of purpose and mind? It is madness and impiety for men to speak against the Book that Jesus treats as the Word of God."

Genesis 4 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord. And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. On Faith Extract from Romans Verse by Verse, Chapter 3 by William R. Newell "Faith is not trust, and must be carefully distinguished therefrom, if we would have a clear conception of the gospel. Faith is simply the acceptance for ourselves of the testimony of God as true. Such faith, indeed, brings one into a life of trust. But faith is not “trusting,” or “expecting God to do something,” but relying on His testimony concerning the person of Christ as His Son, and the work of Christ for us on the cross.  So faith is “the giving substance to things hoped for.” After saving faith, the life of trust begins . Law or Grace, Which? From Book: Things New and Old: Volume 32 1. In God's dealings with men He made a marked distinction between Jew and Gentile. (See Rom. 2:9,10) Of the Gentile He says: "As many as have sinned without law :" of the Jew : "As many as have sinned in the law " (ver. 12) Verse 14 states distinctly that "the Gentiles have not the law”. The Jew, on the contrary, "rested in the law" (ver. 17); "knew God's will" (ver. 18); "had the form of knowledge and of truth in the law" (ver. 20); and "with the letter and circumcision transgressed the law." (Ver. 27) This is in contrast to "without law." (ver. 12) Note a cognate word in 1 John 3:4, revised version, is translated correctly "lawlessness," so that this would be "lawless."
