Jesus of the Scars

    If we have never sought, we seek Thee now;
    Thine eyes burn through the dark, our only stars;
    We must have sight of thorn-pricks on Thy brow,
    We must have Thee, O Jesus of the Scars.

    The heavens frighten us; they are too calm;
    In all the universe we have no place.
    Our wounds are hurting us; where is the balm?
    Lord Jesus, by Thy Scars, we claim Thy grace.

    If, when the doors are shut, Thou drawest near,
    Only reveal those hands, that side of Thine;
    We know to-day what wounds are, have no fear,
    Show us Thy Scars, we know the countersign.

    The other gods were strong; but Thou wast weak;
    They rode, but Thou didst stumble to a throne;
    But to our wounds only God’s wounds can speak,
    And not a god has wounds, but Thou alone.

He Is the Worthy Lamb "God will provide Himself a lamb." Genesis 22:8  "Your lamb shall be without blemish." Exodus 12:5; 1 Peter 1:19   "He was brought as a lamb to the slaughter." Isaiah 53:7   "Behold the lamb of God." John 1:29   "Worthy is the lamb that was slain." Revelation 5:12  The last book of the Bible is "The Book of the Lamb." In it, Christ is spoken of more than twenty times, in different connections, as the Lamb. Promised as the divine Lamb, in the fullness of time, Christ was provided as the Lamb and John reminds us of how the vast angelic host, along with the living creatures and elders exalt His worthiness as God's Lamb. How worthy He was as the Lamb, freshly slain, to receive - power . All power is now His in heaven and on earth. Riches - whether spiritual or material. The wealth in every mine belongs to Him.
