Glory be to God!

"BURIED with Christ," and raised with Him too;

What is there left for me to do?

Simply to cease from struggling and strife,

Simply to "walk in newness of life."

Glory be to God. 


"Risen with Christ," my glorious Head;

Holiness, now, the pathway I tread,

Beautiful thought, while walking therein:

"He that is dead is freed from sin."

Glory be to God. 


"Living with Christ," who "dieth no more,"

Following Christ, who goeth before,

I am from bondage utterly freed,

Reckoning self as "dead indeed."

Glory be to God. 


Living for Christ, my members I yield,

Servants to God, for evermore sealed,

"Not under law," I'm now "under grace,"

Sin is dethroned, and Christ takes its place.

Glory be to God. 


Growing in Christ; no more shall be named

Things of which now I'm truly ashamed,

"Fruit unto holiness" will I bear,

Life evermore, the end I shall share.

Glory be to God!

The Preserving Power of The Word From: Words of Truth, Volume 6 The Word of God should not only be a check on our thoughts, but the source of them, which is a far deeper thing. We see it in Christ, the only perfect One. He only could say, "By the word of Thy lips I have kept Me from the paths of the destroyer." The Psalmist David could say: "Thy word have I hid in Mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee." Psa. 17:4 and 119:11. There is a preserving power in the Word to keep the feet from sliding, which those only know who receive the truth in the love of it . Merely having the Word hid in the memory and mind will not do. [ Romans 1 ] 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth: to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For God’s righteousness on the principle of faith to [such as have] faith is revealed in it [the gospel]: just as it is written, “The righteous on the principle of faith shall live.”   Here we have the text of the whole Epistle of Romans: First, the words “the gospel”—so dear to Paul, as will appear. [ Romans 6 ] Verse 14: For sin shall not have dominion over you, for ye are not under law, but under grace. Note the two “fors.” The first “for” announces the Divine decree that sin’s lordship over us shall be ended. The second reveals the happy condition of things in which such a release is possible: we are not under the legal principle,—which first demanded duty , and then offered blessing; but we are under the grace principle,—which confers blessing first , and, behold, fruits follow! It is deeply significant here that even to us, new creatures in Christ, and recipients of the Holy Spirit, it is definitely announced to us that we are not under law ,—else bondage and helplessness would still be our lot.
